Ob Besongngem

Ob Besongngem

 began coaching with Strive in 2022. Born in Ngaoundere, Cameroon, Ob played NCAA DI/II for 3 years as an outside hitter for Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia. After college, he moved to Maryland and currently works as a Quality Control tech for Elite Spice Inc. He's also an assistant at McDaniel College (DIII).

In addition to his playing career at Alderson Broaddus, Ob is one of the most successful adult volleyball players on the East Coast for indoor, grass, and beach. He is currently training and competing in the Beach Professional Tour for Team Cameroon.

is an active Beach Volleyball Player and Coach in Maryland, who also attends worldwide tournaments. In 2024 OB participated in the olympic qualifier games for his native country Cameroon to play at the Olympics in Paris. OB has been playing vigorously and successfully since 2015, and has been coaching for 4 years. He is currently an assistant for the McDaniel Women's volleyball(D3) team and competing this summer (2025) in the African Beach Nation's Cup to qualify for the World Championships in November of this year, hosted by Australia.

He is making a bid to be on the first beach volleyball team from Cameroon to compete at the Olympic games. Training for Paris 2024

Ob will compete in tournaments across the U.S. and in Egypt, Cameroon, Rwanda, South Africa, Morocco, Ghana, and Germany, vying for a position at the next Olympic games.

Awards and honors:
 2015 All-Independent Team; 2017 All-Independent Team
Besongngem led the Battlers in kills for three consecutive seasons, including being in the nation’s top 25 with a career-best 3.59 kills per game average as a junior in 2016. The outside attacker in his last two seasons had at least 20 kills five matches. Besongngem in his final college match also had a team-high 12 kills as Alderson Broaddus beat Coker to win the inaugural IVA Tournament in 2017.
