John Lowe

John Lowe was named Assistant Head Women's Wrestling Coach at McDaniel on Sept. 18, 2024.

Inducted into the McDaniel College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015 and Maryland Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012, Lowe returned to the Hill after a nine-year stint as the men's head coach from 1994-2003 when his teams won four Centennial Conference championships.

During his tenure at McDaniel, Lowe produced six All-Americans and six Scholar All-Americans, the school's first ever in those categories. He also mentored 30 individual conference champions.

Lowe returns to the Hill after 22 seasons as the head wrestling coach at nearby Winters Mill High School which opened in 2002. Hed led the Falcons to five boys' wrestling state championships and produced seven individual state champions. He also started the girls' wrestling program in 2020 which posted a 22-3 record and produced nine state place-winners in four seasons.

Lowe has an extensive Olympic-style wrestling background, having led the Maryland National Freestyle and the Maryland Greco-Roman Team from 1991-97, helping produce three national champions, 19 All-Americans, and a record-setting .700-win percentage with the 1995 Cadet Team.

As a wrestler, Lowe competed at Washington & Lee University and won an AAU national Greco-Roman title at 163 pounds in 1993. He lives in Westminster with his wife and two sons.
