Jason Reider

Jason Reider was named assistant track & field coach at McDaniel on Oct. 20, 2025. He is a dedicated coach and educator with more than two decades of experience in athletics, strength and conditioning, and physical education.

Prior to McDaniel, Reider served as the head cross country coach at Penn State York, where he developed training programs and managed all aspects of the program from organizing practices and competitions to recruiting new talent and ensuring compliance.

While at Penn State York, Reider also served as a track & field coach in the Dover Area School District.

Reider's background includes a long tenure with the Southern York County School District where he taught health and physical education to students from kindergarten through high school. As the school’s certified strength and conditioning specialist, he designed and implemented comprehensive fitness programs for student athletes and teams.

Reider was the head track & field and strength and conditioning coach at York College of Pennsylvania from 2005-07. He led a staff of coaches, guided student athletes, and played a key role in recruiting and program development. He was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the college’s Grumbacher Center track & field venue.

Reider holds certifications as a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coach and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

A 2001 graduate of West Chester, Reider earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education/Kinesiology, graduating cum laude while competing on the cross country and track & field teams after transferring from Slippery Rock where he was a member of the  men's cross country team that placed sixth at the 1991 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

Reider also holds a master’s degree equivalency from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and completed another 30 graduate credits in Education and Kinesiology beyond his master's degree.

Reider is married to the former Kelly Walton Reider who was a two-time All American and six-time NCAA qualifier at West Chester in both cross country and track & field. She was inducted in the West Chester Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
