Johnson begins his first season as an assistant coach at McDaniel in 2022 working with the linebackers. He came to The Hill after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at Woodlawn High School.
Johnson served as a defensive assistant and special teams coordinator at Woodlawn from 2014-18. He also served as the defensive coordinator for the junior varsity. During that time, the Warriors posted 29 wins while Jawan Rabb averaged 27.7 yards per kick return and 31.8 yards per punt return while totaling three return touchdowns. A two-time All-Baltimore County League First Team selection, Rabb was selected to play for Maryland in the Big 33 Classic before signing with Frostburg as part of the Bobcats' first-ever Division II recruiting class.
Prior to Woodlawn, Johnson served as an assistant defensive line coach at Wagner College where he graduated in 2014 with a bachelor of science degree in sociology. He played two seasons as a defensive lineman for the Seahawks, appearing in all 23 of the team's games in 2012 and 2013, totaling 32 tackles, including 8.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks. The team won the Northeast Conference championship and advanced to the second round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs in 2012.
Johnson began his collegiate career at ASA College, earning All-Northeast Football Conference (NFC) Second Team honors in 2011 after totaling 15 tackles, 11 for loss an six sacks. He was also received Academic All-Region XV accolades.
A native of Baltimore, Md. and graduate of Woodlawn High School, Johnson currently lives in Owings Mills.
