Smith enters her eighth season on the Green Terror staff coach as the team's pitching coach. She has consistently guided the pitching staff at or near the top of the confernece in each of her first four seasons on staff.

A 2011 graduate of Division I Liberty University, she excelled as a pitcher. She was named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2010, NFCA All-Region, Big South all-conference, VaSID first team and conference tournament MVP. She helped her team reach the NCAA Regional in 2011 and holds the career strikeout record (589), registering 51 wins in her career.

She holds bachelor of arts in elementary education from Liberty.
