Biography

As a Freshman, McGarry made his collegiate debut at the Dickinson Fall Invitational, shooting a two under 70 to finish 2nd overall. McGarry then finished tied for 13th in the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational, followed by a tied for 7th finish at the Mason Dixon Fall Invitational, shooting 75-72. In the Spring, McGarry posted a 74 to tie the lowest round, but losing a match of cards to place 2nd at the Dickinson Spring Invitational. The following week, McGarry placed 15th at the McDaniel Spring Invitational. Making his A-team debut at the Hershey cup, McGarry placed 5th shooting 73-75. At the Kravitz invitational, McGarry placed 9th overall, winning the first team tournament of his career. McGarry then helped McDaniel to a second place finish in the Centennial Conference Championship as a freshman. McGarry was named conference athlete of the week 1 time. 

As a Sophomore, McGarry made his debut at the Guy Kuhn Invitational, placing 13th overall. At the Tom Kinder Memorial McGarry placed 5th overall with rounds of 72-71, finishing -1 helping the team to their first win of the season. McGarry followed with 2 more rounds of -1 71 at the Don Scalf Invitational to place 4th overall. At the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational, McGarry finished 9th overall with rounds of 72-69 to finish -3 for the tournament. In the spring McGarry placed 12th overall at the BSN Sports Dataw Island Invitational before shortly after the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. McGarry was named conference athlete of the week 2 times. 

As a Junior, the fall season was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, however the spring season was scheduled. McGarry made his season debut at the McDaniel Spring invitational, where he finished 6th overall shooting 75. The following tournament McGarry finished 11th overall at the Gettysburg Spring Invitational. At the Dickinson Spring Invitational, McGarry finished 6th overall at the Carlisle Barracks. Two days later, McGarry captured his first individual victory at the Second Gettysburg Spring Invitational at Hanover Country Club. At the McDaniel Shootout, McGarry placed 4th overall, followed by a tied for 6th finish at the Centennial Conference Championship. McGarry was named Conference athlete of the week 2 times, and earned All Conference Honors for the season.

As a Senior, McGarry made his season debut at the St. John Fisher Fall Invitational, placing 2nd finishing 1 back. At the Kinder-Williams Bridgewater Fall Invitational, McGarry tied the school 18 hole scoring record with a 4-under 68 Monday, and broke it Tuesday with a 5-under 67 to also set the 36 hole McDaniel and Centennial Conference record with a 9-under par total of 133. McGarry won the tournament by 4 strokes, his second of his career. 4 days later, McGarry won the Dickinson Fall Invitational by 4 strokes, the third of his career with a score of 8-under 64, setting the Carlisle Barracks Course Record, Centennial Conference 18 hole record, and McDaniel 18 hole record. McDaniel won both tournaments as well. At the Mason Dixon Fall Invitational, McGarry placed 7th overall to finish the fall. At the Ruckus in the spring, McGarry placed 10th overall helping McDaniel to their 3rd team win of the season, then followd by a 4th overall finish at the McDaniel Spring Invitational. At the Conference Championship, McGarry finished 5th overall with a score of 218, setting the program 54 hole record. McGarry finished the season being named Conference Athlete of the Week 3 times, and with All Conference Honors, and named Ping All-American, as well as set the program 18, 36, and 54 hole records. 

As a 5th Year, McGarry made his debut at the Transylvania Fall Invitational, where he broke his own program 54 hole scoring record, shooting 1-under 215 to finish 6th overall. At the Gauntlet, McGarry finished the tournament 2nd overall with rounds of 68-73 to finish -3, making a 5 footer on 18 to help win the team title. McGarry followed with another 2nd place finish at the Kinder-Williams Fall Invitational with rounds of 68-74 to finish 2-under. McGarry won his first tournament of the season at the Mason Dixon Fall Invitational in tough conditions, shooting 69-72 to win by 3 shots. McGarry was named Conference athlete of the week 2 consecutive weeks. 

Before McDaniel: Graduating from Oliver Ames in North Easton Massachusetts, McGarry finished his high school career 63-0 with the Tigers, being named a league All Star 3 times, and All Scholastic 3 times. He also led the league in scoring average his senior year. Before high school, McGarry competed in the US Kids World Golf Championship multiple years, and was featured on ESPN's series "Timeless". 

Personal: McGarry played multiple sports as a kid including baseball. He is the son of Sean McGarry, who played football at Union College, and Jennifer Williams. McGarry credits his parents and grandfather for introducing him to the sport, and his high school coach Ryan Riley, a 2 time Massachusetts Am Champion for the reason he is playing in college today. McGarry's favorite memory on the course is winning the Mason-Dixon Fall Invitational in front of his dad and grandfather, the two who introduced the sport to him.
