WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior
Logan Marsh had nine catches for 87 yards and one touchdown as the McDaniel College football team fell to No. 7 Salisbury Saturday in its home opener on Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium, 62-7.
The Green Terror (0-2) have faced the Sea Gulls in each of the last three seasons after renewing the series in 2023 for the first time since 1998.
Marsh set a new career high for receptions, surpassing his previous mark of eight which he set twice, the last of which came against Salisbury at home on Nov. 4, 2023. That was also the last time he found the end zone prior to his 11-yard touchdown pass from sophomore
Jayden Booker with 41 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
In two career meetings versus Salisbury, Marsh has caught 11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns, an average of 11.6 yards per catch. He missed last year's meeting due to injury.
The Sea Gulls (2-0) scored on nine touchdowns on 13 offensive possessions, including four of six in the first half to take a 27-7 halftime lead. Dario Belizaire led the visitors with three touchdowns and 121 yards of total offense. He rushed for 62 yards on six carries and had three catches for 59 yards with touchdown receptions of 19, 25, and 15 yards.
Salisbury's triple option offense accounted for 565 yards on 71 plays, but did have six penalties for 62 yards and five fumbles. They controlled the ball for over 36 minutes, were 9-of-11 on third-down conversions and scored on eight of nine trips inside the red zone.
McDaniel managed to recover one fumble and block one extra point, but it converted just three of its 15 third-down and fourth-down opportunities.
Booker completed 18-of-34 pass attempts for 183 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He completed a pass to six different receivers, including senior
Grayson Wendel who had three catches for 58 yards.
Sophomore
Taevon LeGrande led the defense with 11 total tackles while junior
Christian Homer had six to go along with a forced fumble and blocked kick.
The Green Terror play at home for the second consecutive week as they host Juniata next Saturday, Sept. 20. Kickoff between the former Centennial Conference rivals is at 2 p.m.
