COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Junior
Kat Thayer led the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team as it closed out the season with an 18-9 Centennial Conference road loss to Ursinus Saturday at Patterson Field.
Thayer led the Green Terror (6-11, 0-8 CC) with two goals, three assists, one ground ball, five draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Thayer finished the season as the team's leader in goals (38), assists (25), points (63), ground balls (38), caused turnovers (25), and draw controls (65). She is believed to be the first person in school history to lead the team in each. In 2005, head coach
Kristin Ramey '05 led the team in all but draw controls, finishing second with 45 behind Lindsay Ricks who had 47.
With 125 career draw controls, Thayer ranks 10th in program history, one shy of current assistant coach
Emma Legacy '24.
The Bears (7-10, 3-5 CC) held a slim 2-1 lead after the first quarter before exploding for 10 second-quarter tallies to take a 12-2 halftime lead.
McDaniel outscored the hosts 7-6 in the second half while holding the advantage in shots and turnovers, but could only get within eight as Ursinus scored four of the last seven goals over the final 12 minutes.
Junior
Mia McElwee tied her career high with three points on two goals and one assist while adding four draw controls and two ground balls. Junior
Charlotte Alexander scored twice and sophomore
Emily Conklin had one goal, one assist, one ground ball and one caused turnover.
The Green Terror had seven different players with at least one point and six with at least one goal.
Senior
Paris Conord had an assist and two ground balls while senior
Kayonna Cook had two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Junior
Caleigh Kohr made five saves, including four in the first half, and freshman
Audrey Musser had one in the third quarter. Kohr now has 272 career saves, moving her past Hannah Miller '22 for 10th on the program's all-time list.
