LANCASTER, Pa. - McDaniel College women's basketball senior Elaina Beckett and volleyball senior Samantha Fadel will participate in the 27th Snell-Shillingford Symposium at Haverford College January 24-25.
Named in honor of pioneering coaches Eleanor Frost Snell and Jenepher Shillingford, the Snell-Shillingford Symposium has served as a cornerstone leadership-development program within the conference for more than 25 years. The symposium has empowered hundreds of student-athletes, helping them develop skills they can apply in athletics and in their future professional careers.
This year's cohort features 26 participants representing all 11 Centennial Conference institutions. Selected for their demonstrated leadership potential, commitment to personal growth, and dedication to service, this year's participants embody the spirit and values of the symposium.
The theme for the 2025-26 symposium, "Elevate," is both a call to action and an invitation to re-imagine what is possible when leaders bring their authentic selves to their teams and communities. Through intentional self-reflection and collaboration, the symposium will explore how elevating oneself and others can shape the culture of sport and influence the future of leadership.
The program will feature a panel discussion led by the conference's Senior Woman Administrators, along with five sessions focused on topics such as mentorship, Title IX, goal setting, and more.
Speakers for the symposium include Franklin & Marshall alumna Anna Goorevich of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport (Snell Intern, 2020); Dr. Amy Wilson of the NCAA; Sherryta Freeman, Director of Athletics at Lafayette College; life coach and author Megan Weisheipl; and Swarthmore College head coach and former Snell-Shillingford director Harleigh Chwastyk.
