Legacy Scores Six Goals in Final Home Game on Senior Day

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College women's lacrosse senior Emma Legacy scored a career-high six goals, but Washington College rallied to score nine of the final 12 goals en route to an 18-14 victory Saturday at Gill Stadium on Senior Day.

The Green Terror (6-11, 1-8 CC) led by three at the end of the first quarter and 11-9 at halftime before the Shorewomen took their a 13-12 lead with 1:59 remaining in the third quarter. It was the visitors first lead since the 12:51 mark of the first quarter.

In her final home game, Legacy finished with six goals, three ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Her third goal of the game with 4:51 left in the first was the 100th point of her career. In 52 career games, she has 89 goals and 14 assists for 103 points.

Meanwhile, senior Emma Miller had one goal and one assist and finished the season with 61 goals. She is just the sixth player in program history to score at least 60 goals in a single season.

Miller also totaled 12 draw controls on Saturday and now has 385 for her career, further adding to her school record.

With the game tied for the third time at 3-3, McDaniel scored three consecutive goals, including two by Legacy, to take a three-goal lead with 4:51 left in the first quarter, 6-3.

Legacy would net her fourth goal of the first quarter with just one second remaining on a free position to give the Green Terror a three-goal lead after one, 7-4.

Three-straight goals by Washington to start the second tied the game at 7-7 before four-straight goals by McDaniel, including two more by Legacy, gave the team its largest lead, 11-7, with 4:07 to play in the second.

However, the Shorewomen (10-6, 5-4 CC) scored two goals to end the half and trailed 11-9 at halftime. The two goals were the start of a 12-3 run over the game's final 33:44 to give Washington its first win in Westminster since March 27, 2021.

Mia Salvatierra had eight points for the visitors with five goals and three assists while Morgan Sutherland also had five goals.

Freshman Emily Conklin finished with five ground balls and five caused turnovers while sophomore Caleigh Kohr totaled a career-high 14 saves in goal.
