Dickinson Outduels Women's Lacrosse in Offensive Shootout

CARLISLE, Pa. - Trailing by one late in the third quarter, Dickinson scored five consecutive goals and eight of the last 11 in an 18-14 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Wednesday at Biddle Field.

The Green Terror (6-8, 1-5 CC) had three players register hat-tricks, including sophomore Kat Thayer who had four goals, two assists and six points, all career highs.

Senior Emma Legacy also scored four goals while senior Emma Miller had three goals and five assists. Miller now has 58 goals this season, the most by a McDaniel player since 2014. With two more goals, she will become just the sixth player in program history to score 60 in a single-season.

Miller now has 178 career points and moved into ninth-place in program history, surpassing Ann Kangas who had 176 from 1987-90.

The game featured six ties and three lead changes. Miller's third goal of the game, off an assist from Thayer, gave the visitors an 11-10 lead with 3:45 remaining in the third.

However, a goal by Emma Wynne just 33 seconds later tied the game for the sixth time and was the first of five-straight goals for the Red Devils who took a 15-11 lead with 12:27 to play in the fourth.

Dickinson (9-4, 4-2 CC), who also had three players record hat-tricks, scored seven goals in a span of 9:40 to take its largest lead of the game with 8:32 left, 17-12. Wynne totaled two goals and two assists during the decisive run.

The Red Devils held a 21-14 edge in draw controls, including a 14-5 advantage in the second half. They also won of 10-of-12 over the game's final 18:12 as they outscored McDaniel, 8-3.

Freshman Delany Turner scored the first two goals of her career Wednesday while junior Kayonna Cook totaled four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore Caleigh Kohr had six saves.

The Green Terror head to Muhlenberg on Saturday for their final road game of the 2024 season. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
