McDaniel Opens Spring Schedule Against Mounties and Mules

McDaniel College (1-6) vs Mount Aloysius ( 7-8) 

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Lady Green Terrors dropped all matches and lost 8-0 against Mount Aloysius after returning home to the Warfield Tennis Courts on Sunday in a non-conference tennis match up.

The Mounties (7-8) ended a 5 game skid and came out strong when Lauryn Kitchen and Kierra Mountain defeated the Green Terror No. 2 doubles team of Junior Mackenzie McCarter (Hagerstown, MD) and Senior Claire Hopkins (Washington D.C.) 8-1 

Julie Davis and Caylie Conlon defeated McDaniel's No. 1 doubles team of Freshman Liz Fyfe and Junior Rachel Smith  8-2 

Senior Natalie Newman (Cockeysville, MD) gave Mount Aloysius' Mackenzie Barr all she could handle before ultimately losing 6-4, 7-5 

With the overall team game on the line Liz Fyfe (Media, PA) took McDaniels' first set of the day pushing Caylie Conlon to a tie breaker set before falling.   

Rachel Smith (Hanover, PA) also went to a tiebreaker set against Kylie Mountain before losing 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 

McDaniel (1-7) vs Muhlenburg (4-5)

McDaniel (1-7) had little time to rest as the Muhlenburg Mules came to town for an afternoon set in Centennial Conference action, The Green Terror fought hard but ultimately fell 7 – 0

The score was not indicative of the matches however.  Both doubles games went into tie Breakers.  With the score tied 7-7 in both sets Freshman Liz Fyfe (Media, PA ) and Junior Mackenzie McCarter (Hagerstown, MD) took Muhlenburg to a tiebreaker losing 7-3.

Next Senior Claire Hopkins (Washington D.C.) and partner Rachel Smith (Hanover, PA) lost 7-5 in the tie breaking set giving the Mules a 2-0 lead in team play.

Luck did not favor the host Green Terror as No. 1 Singles player Liz Fyfe fell 6-2, 6-3 ; No 2. Player Rachel Smith was ousted 6-1, 6-2 as were the other singles players for McDaniel Mackenzie McCarter, Claire Hopkins, and Natalie Newman.

The Green Terror play again on April 7as they host Catholic University at 1 PM in non-conference play
