McDaniel Opens Spring Schedule With 9-0 Win Over Mounties

McDaniel College (3-2) vs. Mount Aloysius (1-8) 

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Led by Sophomore Jake Kegley and Freshman Connor Neal, the McDaniel College men's tennis team swept all matches in a non-conference contest versus Mount Aloysius (1-9) Sunday at the Warfield Tennis Courts.

The Green Terror (4-2) picked up their first win of 2024 by sweeping all 9 matches and topping the Mounties 9-0. 

McDaniel came out strong by dominating shot placement and serve against a Mount Aloysius team that has lost 6 straight matches.  No. 1 singles player Jake Kehley (Churchville, MD) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Matt Jacobs while at No. 2 singles local product Connor Neal (Manchester, MD)  defeated Hunter Reed 6-1, 6-0. 

Kegley and Neal were not done as they teamed up later in the No 1 doubles match winning 8-0 over Matt Jacobs/Hunter Reed

At No. 2 doubles, Quinn Dietsche (Silver Spring, MD) and fellow Junior Parth Shah (Ellicott City, MD) defeated Zachary Johnson/Matt Franz) 8-2

Drew Ryder (Holbrook, NY) joined Justin Edwards (Silver Spring, MD) in No. 3 doubles action to sweep Noah Noel/Trent Strouse 8-0

Parth Shah, Justin Edwards, Quinn Dietsche, and Hunter Turlington all chipped in with singles wins to seal the shutout 

McDaniel College (4-2) vs. Muhlenburg (4-4) 

After dominating Mount Aloysious College earlier in the day, the Green Terror returned to Warfield Tennis Courts to take on Muhlenburg in a Centenniel Conference match up.  Despite dropping 2 out of 3 doubles matches, the Mules came away with the 7-2 victory in Centennial Conference play on Sunday. 

McDaniel dominated the doubles portion of the matches as No. 2 doubles, Quinn Dietsche (Silver Spring, MD) and Junior Parth Shah (Ellicott City, MD) defeated Josh Benson and Noah Katz 8-6.  Justin Edwards (Silver Spring, MD) and partner Drew Ryder (Holbrook, NY) beat Isaac Shulman and Connor Michael 8-6 

That would be the only bright spot on the day for the Green Terror, however.  Muhlenburg got victories in 1st singles as  

Sebastian Meyer defeated Jake Kehley (Churchville, MD) 6-1, 6-0  
Syver-August Meyer defeated Connor Neal (Manchester, MD)   6-0, 6-1 
Owen Dyer  beat Parth Shah (Ellicott City, MD), 6-2, 6-2 
Matt Miller  swept  Justin Edwards (Silver Spring, MD), 6-0, 6-0 
William Rose triumphed over Quinn Dietsche (Silver Spring, MD), 6-0, 6-2 
Harrison Neff ousted Ryder, 6-2, 6-1 

The Green Terror return to action Sunday April 7th as Catholic University comes to Warfield Tennis Courts wit ha 1 PM start time.
