Carly Jarkiewicz and junior
Rachel Smith, the McDaniel College women's tennis team swept all nine matches in a non-conference contest versus Trinity (DC) Monday at the Warfield Tennis Courts.
The Green Terror (1-3) picked up their first win of the season and their first sweep since a 9-0 win at Hood on Sept. 28, 2022.
As a team, Jarkiewicz and Smith picked up their first win of the season with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles before each picked up their first singles victories at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Smith posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Karla Nunez-Perez while Jarkiewicz defeated Sydney Ware at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
After three doubles wins and a victory by Smith at No. 2 singles, senior
Andy Junquera sealed the win with the team's fifth point at No. 5 singles, a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Yesica Tumax.
Senior
Claire Hopkins and sophomore
Leah Somerville each picked up their second consecutive singles wins as Hopkins posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Catherine Rodriguez at No. 4 singles and Somerville won 6-2, 6-2 against Florence Nyako at No. 6.
Freshman
Emma Janisch and senior
Natalie Newman picked up their first collegiate wins with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
McDaniel hits the road for just the second time in five matches this season when the team travels to Hood on Saturday, Oct. 7.
