Fourth Quarter Propels Dickinson Past Women's Lacrosse

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Dickinson scored six fourth-quarter goals, including four-straight, to take its biggest lead of the game en route to a 15-9 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Wednesday night at Gill Stadium.

The loss was the first in the last three games for the Green Terror (4-9, 1-5 CC) against the Devils and their first at home in the series since April 3, 2019.

Junior Emma Miller led the team with two goals and two assists while adding nine draw controls and one caused turnover.

The game was tied at 3-3  after the first quarter following back-to-back goals by junior Gaby Kohr and freshman Julia Corry in the final two minutes before Dickinson outscored McDaniel 4-1 in the second to take a 7-4 halftime lead.

After the Devils' Liz Barroll scored her third goal of the game just 1:05 into the second half, McDaniel tallied three of the final four to pull within two after three, 9-7.

However, Dickinson (8-5, 2-4 CC) scored the first four goals of the fourth to take its largest lead of the night, 13-7, with 6:00 remaining.

The Devils out-shot the Green Terror, 33-19, and held a 16-9 edge in ground balls. Each team won 13 draw controls and had seven second-half turnovers.

Senior Astrid Jensen made a career-high nine saves for McDaniel, but Dickinson scored on six of eight fourth-quarter shots as the team improved to 5-1 on the road this season.

Kohr and Corry each finished with two goals while senior Acadia Noll had one goal, one assist and two draw controls.

McDaniel plays its final home game of the season on Saturday when it hosts Muhlenberg on Senior Day. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the team will honors its five seniors: Jensen, Noll, Kendall Gracie, Emily Sheppard and Alena Roca.
