THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel finished seventh at the 2022 Centennial Conference men's swimming championship hosted by Franklin & Marshall. The Green Terror finished with 124 points.
THE LEADERS
• Thomas Fagiolo (Takoma Park, Md./Sandy Springs Friends School) qualified for the 100 backstroke finals with a prelim time of 55.15 seconds. He finished 16th with a time of 55.54.
• Christian Walker (Chestertown, Md./The Gunston School) quaified for the B-finals in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.26. He bettered that time in the finals to finish 14th (2:01.04), ranking fifth in program history.
FOR THE FOES
• Swarthmore won the title for the third time in the last five championships with 889 points, edging Franklin & Marshall by 73 points.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• The 200 medley relay of Matthew Lessler, Mark Sanelli, Aleksei Dudley, and Zach Askounes finished seventh with a time of 1:57.84.
• The 800 free relay of Zach Askounes, Christian Walker, Aleksei Dudley, and Thomas Fagiolo recorded a seventh place finish (7:33.54).
• The 400 medley relay of Thomas Fagiolo, Christian Walker, Aleksei Dudley, and Jack Alperstein placed seventh with a time of 3:50.05.
• The 200 free relay of Christian Walker, Jack Alperstein, Zach Askounes, and Thomas Fagiolo finished seventh with a time of 1:33.26.
• The 400 free relay finished seventh with a time of 3:25.38.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Zach Askounes (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) finished with a season-best time of 11:00.58 in the 1000 freestyle. He also finished the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.91 which also marked his best of the year.
• Jack Alperstein (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) recorded a season-best time in the 100 backstroke (1:04.49) and the 100 breaststroke (1:20.67).
• Mark Sanelli (Silver Spring, Md./DeMatha) finished the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 30.89.
• Matthew Lessler (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) recorded a season-best time of 2:31.48 in the 200 backstroke.
