LANCASTER, Pa. - McDaniel College men's swimming senior
Zach Askounes finished seventh in the 1,000-yard freestyle as the Green Terror opened the season Saturday at the Centennial East Quad hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
McDaniel (0-3, 0-3 CC) competed against the Diplomats, Swarthmore and Ursinus.
Askounes touched the wall in a time of 11:43.66 to post the best finish on the day for the Green Terror. He also placed 11th in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley.
McDaniel totaled five top-10 finishes with junior
Aleksei Dudley finishing ninth in the 500-yard freestyle and sophomore
Matt Lesler placing ninth in the 100-yard backstroke. Meanwhile, senior
Jack Alperstein was 10th in the 200-yard freestyle and sophomore
Mike Sanelli was 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Dudley also finished 11th in the 200-yard butterfly while Alperstein was 12th in the 100-yard freestyle and Sanelli was 13th. Alperstein and Sanelli also finished back-to-back in the 50-yard freestyle at 13th and 14th, respectively.
The Green Terror make their home debut next Saturday, October 29 when they host Dickinson for a Centennial Conference dual meet beginning at 1 p.m.
