Gorgone records career-high 12 tackles in home football game

THE SKINNY STORY
Muhlenberg's offense had 448 yards of total offense while its defense pitched a shutout for a 23-0 win over McDaniel.

THE LEADERS
• Anthony Gorgone (Clarksville, Md./Good Counsel) led the Green Terror with a career-high 12 tackles.
• Nah'shon Godfrey (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) added 11 tackles, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery.

FOR THE FOES
• Michael Feaster caught nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mules.
• Mitch Daniel added 104 yards on eight catches.
• Michael Hnatkowsky went 25-for-32 for 355 yards through the air.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a pair of punts by both teams, Muhlenberg took over at the McDaniel 38 with 5:07 to play in the first quarter. A 16-yard catch by Michael Feaster set the Mules up at the 13 but the Green Terror defense held and Muhlenberg had to settle for a 22-yard Nick Stannard field goal with 3:15 to play in the quarter.
• The Mules stretched the lead to 10-0 when Michael Hnatkowsky connected with a wide-open Zach Deldin for a 48-yard catch-and-run for a score with 7:24 remaining in the second quarter.
• Muhlenberg took its first possession of the second half 72 yards in seven plays before Hnatkowsky connected with Feaster for a three-yard score in the back of the end zone. The PAT was blocked to keep it a 16-0 game with 11:57 showing.
• Feaster caught another 15-yard touchdown pass to cap an eight-play, 87-yard drive for the final margin with 3:37 to play in the third quarter.
• McDaniel put together its best drive of the day on its final possession, moving 78 yards on 11 plays to the Mule 10 but an interception with 15 seconds left preserved the shutout.

THE INSIDE STORY
• The McDaniel defense had four takeaways – two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
• Barry Amos (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) had two interceptions for the Green Terror.
Azagio Herd (Waldorf, Md./North Point) had a pass breakup to go with a career-high seven tackles.
