THE SKINNY
McDaniel opened the season with a quad meet at Franklin & Marshall, competing against the Diplomats, Urisnus and Swarthmore to start the Centennial Conference season.
THE LEADERS
• Zach Askounes (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) led the Green Terror with a seventh-place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 11:14.40. He also finished 15th in the 500 free (5:24.60).
• Thomas Fagiolo (Takoma Park, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) finished eighth in the 100 back with a time of 55.81 seconds. He added a ninth-place showing int he 200 back (2:04.85) and was 20th in the 200 IM (2:11.58).
FOR THE FOES
• Franklin & Marshall went 3-0 on the day behind wins by Alec Wahl in the 200 back (1:55.54) and as part of the 200 medley relay (1:32.24). He was also second in the 100 back (51.83).
• The Diplomats defeated McDaniel 218-29 while the Green Terror also dropped a 219-28 decision to Swarthmore and 196-47 decision to Ursinus.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Zach Askounes also anchored the 400 free relay to a 10th-place finish. Christian Walker (Chestertown, Md./The Gunston School), Jack Alperstein (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), and Aleksei Dudley (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) joined him to post a time of 3:38.74.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Christian Walker finished 10th in the 100 fly (56.16) and was 12th in the 200 free (1:55.09).
