THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel placed third with three runners in the top 16 at the Towson Invitational. The Green Terror posted 69 points to finish behind Division I teams Towson (19) and Morgan State (50).
THE LEADERS
• Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill) finished eighth with a time of 17:07.39.
• Megan Mesick (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) debuted with a time of 17:32.21 to place 10th in the race.
• Julia Murphy (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made her Green Terror debut with a time of 18:49.14 to place 16th.
THE INSIDE STORY
• A total of 31 runners competed at the 4,000-meter distance.
• Samantha Merkel turned in McDaniel second-fastest time on the course, bettering her 2017 time by 42 seconds.
• Megan Mesick's time was third on the all-time course list while Julia Murphy's was sixth.
