WESTMINSTER, Md. – Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill) finished second in the 3,000-meter race to lead McDaniel to a win at its own Green Terror Challenge in women's cross country action on Saturday.

Time and Score:

• The Green Terror posted a perfect score in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races to finish with 10 points in each race.

Head of the Class:

• McDaniel alumnae Emily Peoples '11 won both the 3,000- (12:38.55) and 5,000-meter (21:11.12) races.
• Rebecca Debinski (Sykesville, Md./Century) finished second in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 22:00.39.
• Samantha Merkel was second in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 13:09.16.

Five of a Kind: The following athletes rounded out the Green Terror's finishers in the 5K:

• Samantha Merkel finished third (22:52.07)
• Chandra Reiff (Westminster, Md./Westminster) finished fourth (23:48.60)
• Bailey Chapman (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) finished fifth (26:16.80)

Four of a Kind: The following athletes rounded out the Green Terror's scoring four in the 3K:

• Rebecca Debinski finished third (13:40.00)
• Jill Shephard (Monkton, Md./North Harford) finished fourth (14:30.02)
• Mollie Murphy (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) finished fifth (14:33.27)
