CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson held McDaniel to a season-low 10 points to win a defensive battle 13-10 in Centennial Conference (CC) football action on Saturday.

Drew Scott (Brick, N.J./Brick Twp.) led the Green Terror (3-3, 2-3 CC) with 10 tackles on defense.

Tyler Heisey paced the Red Devils (2-4, 2-3 CC) defensively with 11 stops.

A 50-yard Matt Schleifer (Brick, N.J./Brick Twp.) punt return set up the McDaniel offense at the Red Devil 23. Three plays later, Spencer Wiersberg (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) connected on a 34-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead with 10:20 to play in the first quarter.

The ensuing Dickinson drive moved into the red zone before a fumble recovered by the defense was also fumbled giving the Red Devils a first down at the 10-yard line. Two plays later, Robert Geiss tucked the ball on a rollout and scored from eight yards out for a 7-3 lead with 6:47 on the clock.

A Schleifer 71-yard punt return gave the Green Terror offense the ball at the Red Devil 13. On third down, Austyn Warren (Bear, Del./Delmar) made it first collegiate grab on the wheel route to set up first down at the one-yard line. On the next play, Isaac Murray (Columbia, Md./Atholton) dove in for the touchdown and 10-7 lead with 1:29 on the third-quarter clock.

A 26-yard completion on fourth-and-2 moved the ball into the red zone for Dickinson. Chris Long held on to a pass in the back of the end zone from 11 yards out on third down to cap an eight-play, 65-yard drive that gave the hosts a 13-10 lead with 12:32 to play but the Red Devils missed the extra point.

Bamasa Bailor (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) led the offense with four catches for 43 yards. Matt Cathey (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) added 60 yards rushing on 16 carries. He also caught a 14-yard pass. Schleifer finished the day with 229 all-purpose yards, including 213 in the return game. His 158 punt-return yards were the second most in a single game in program history.

The Green Terror has next week off before returning to action at home against Muhlenberg on Saturday, Oct. 21. Game time is 2 p.m.
