FREDERICK, Md. – Carinna Powell (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) finished 39th to lead McDaniel at the Hood Cross Country Open in women's cross country action on Saturday.

Time and Score:

• The Green Terror finished 10th of 14 teams at the meet with 233 points. A total of 119 runners competed at the 6,000-meter distance. Grove City won the meet with 21 points.

Heads of the Class:

• Carinna Powell turned in a time of 26:23 to lead McDaniel in the race.

Five of a Kind: The following athletes rounded out the scoring five at the meet:

• Steph Becker (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) finished 50th (27:16).
• Sarah Lighter (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) finished 60th (27:57).
• Lucy Benson (Wilmington, Del./Sanford) finished 79th (29:47)
• Jill Shephard (Monkton, Md./North Harford) finished 86th (30:15)

• Carinna Powell bettered her previous best time by 10 seconds.
• Steph Becker bettered her previous best time by 1 minute, 52 seconds.
• Sarah Lighter bettered her previous best time by 24 seconds.
• Jill Shephard bettered her previous best time by 1 minute, 46 seconds.
• Mable Buchanan (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) bettered her previous best by one second.
