GREENSPRING, Md. – Amelia Lawrence (Cabin John, Md./Walt Whitman) finished 28th to lead McDaniel at a tri-match with Johns Hopkins and Stevenson to open the women's cross country season on Tuesday.
Lawrence turned in a time of 17:43.08 on the 4,000-meter Stevenson course to lead the Green Terror to a third-place finish. McDaniel finished with 79 points. Johns Hopkins won the event with a perfect score of 15 and actually had 22 of the top 25 finishers.
Carinna Powell (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) followed Lawrence across the line, finishing her first collegiate race in a time of 17:46.09.
Samantha Curry (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) debuted with a time of 18:11.71.
Kelsey Minyon (Millville, Del./Indian River) and Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) rounded out the Green Terror competitors with times of 18:20.26 and 19:12.09, respectively.
The Green Terror returns to action in its own Green Terror Challenge on Saturday. The first race begins at 9:40 a.m.
