McDaniel finishes fourth in first 6K race of season
YORK, Pa. – Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) finished eighth overall to lead McDaniel to a fourth-place showing at the Coach Achtzehn Classic hosted by York (Pa.) in women's cross country action on Saturday.
The Green Terror recorded 90 points as a team, one point behind Centennial Conference-foe Franklin & Marshall. Goucher won the team title with 21 points while the host Spartans were second with 43.
Peoples finished the first 6,000-meter run of the season in a time of 25:06.77.
Missy Black (Atglen, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) added top-15 finishes. Black was 12th with a time of 25:32.99 while Kaler was 15th in a time of 25:44.66.
Joy Chand (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Laura Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington) were 31st (27:01.36) and 32nd (27:06.25), respectively.
Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) crossed 46th overall in a time of 28:42.90 while Amber Slater (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) followed her across in a time of 28:45.23.
McDaniel returns to action at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday. The first race begins at 11 a.m.
