McDaniel places second in home invite
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton
Keough) won both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races to lead
McDaniel to a second-place finish at its own Green Terror Challenge
in women's cross country action on Saturday.
The Green Terror tallied a combined 79 points in the two races,
finishing behind only Mary Washington, which had 60 points. The
Green Terror finished one point behind the Eagles in the 3K (26-27)
but was fourth in the 5K, finishing with 52 points behind Mary
Washington (34), the Green Terror Alumni (47) and York (Pa.)
(50).
In the 5,000-meter race, Wilson crossed the line in a time of
19:08, outdistancing the next collegiate runner by 1 minute, 31
seconds. Green Terror alums Jill Krebs (19:47) and Diana Pool
(20:21) were the next two runners to cross. Mary Washington's
Liz Green finished fourth overall and was the second collegiate
runner with a time of 20:39.
Missy Black (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finished seventh
in a time of 20:57.
Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) was 20th (22:11) while
Joy Chand (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was 31st (23:00).
Laura Shinn (Weehawkin, N.J./Pennington) finished 41st in a time of
23:35 while Kristine Harjes (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) was
57th (25:25).
In the 3K event, all seven McDaniel runners finished in the top
28. Wilson finished off her personal double with a time of 11:17.
Krebs (11:39) and Pool (11:54) were the next two before Green
finished in 11:55.
Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) finished sixth in a
time of 12:12 a second ahead of Black.
Jennifer Garnett (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead) finished 13th
(12:41) and Amber Slater (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) crossed
20th (13:10).
Phoebe McHale (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and Shinn
were 26th (13:49) and 28th (13:55), respectively.
The Green Terror returns to action at the York (Pa.)
Invitational on Saturday.
