Wilson finishes sixth overall in white race to pace Green
Terror
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton
Keough) finished sixth overall to lead McDaniel to a 17th-place
finish at the prestigious Brooks Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh in
women's cross country action on Friday.
Wilson completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:46 to
lead the Green Terror in the white race as part of the three-race
format that placed teams in races based on expected times. The
36-team white race featured teams from Division II, Division III
and junior colleges. McDaniel accumulated 426 points, averaging
25:06 as a team to finish 12th among no fewer than 22 Division III
teams. Swarthmore won the race with 92 points.
Wilson's time of 22:46 was the Green Terror's
fourth-fastest time at the event on a wet and muddy course that had
already featured seven races on Friday after heavy rains blanketed
the region on Thursday.
Missy Black (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Emily Peoples
(Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) each finished in the top 80 of the
280-runner field. Black crossed the line 73rd in a time of 24:49
while Peoples was 79th in a time of 24:57.
Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) and Jennifer Garnett (Los
Altos, Calif./Homestead) rounded out the scoring runners for
McDaniel, finishing 142nd (26:28) and 147th (26:30),
respectively.
Laura Shinn (Weehawkin, N.J./Pennington) finished 174th in a
time of 27:16 while Amber Slater (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill)
crossed 200th in a time of 28:01.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Hornet Harrier hosted
by Shenandoah on Saturday, Oct. 9.
