THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel placed second with 28 points at its own home invitational. The Green Terror had three runners place in the top seven.

THE LEADERS
Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill) finished second with a time of 22:42.46.
Megan Mesick (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) placed third with a time of 22:54.76.
Julia Murphy (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) was seventh overall with a time of 24:18.15.

FOR THE FOES
• Kara Taylor won the race (22:00.00) to lead St. Mary's to the team title with 21 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Bailey Chapman (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) rounded out the Green Terror finishers with a time of 27:08.55.

THE INSIDE STORY
• At the 5,000-meter distance, 20 runners finished before lightning struck and cancelled the 3,000-meter race.
Samantha Merkel posted her best time on the course, bettering last year's time by 10 seconds.
