WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will travel to Baltimore, Md., in search of a Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball championship this weekend.
The third-seeded Green Terror (14-11, 7-3 CC) faces second-seeded Franklin & Marshall (19-5, 9-1 CC) in Saturday's second semifinal at 3:30 p.m., or 60 minutes following the conclusion of the day's first semifinal.
That semifinal pits top-seeded Johns Hopkins (27-0, 10-0 CC) against the winner of the first-round match between fourth-seeded Haverford (22-8, 7-3) and fifth-seeded Swarthmore (15-11, 6-4 CC). That match begins at 1 p.m.
The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship match, which will begin at 1 p.m.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Nov. 15. The NCAA field will be announced on Sunday night.
The Green Terror claimed conference crowns in 1994, 1999 and 2015. It is the eighth tournament appearance for McDaniel.
In the regular-season meeting between the Green Terror and Diplomats, Franklin & Marshall posted a 3-1 win in Lancaster on Oct. 10.
Junior Marlowe Embry (San Jose, Calif./J.H. Pitman) led McDaniel during the regular season with 253 kills and was second on the team with 260 digs. She also added 33 aces and 13 total blocks.
Junior Kendall Hanak (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon) led the defense with 346 digs.
Junior Emma Lorenzen (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) led the way with 39 total blocks to go with 168 kills and 30 aces.
Sophomore Anna Jezerski (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) was second on the team with 228 kills and 38 blocks. She also had 28 aces.
Junior Gayle Edelstein (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) contributed 789 assists to the attack. She also added 24 aces, 55 kills and 15 blocks.
