Woody wins by decision at heavyweight

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Messiah recorded back-to-back pins to key a 35-9 win over McDaniel in non-conference wrestling action on Wednesday.

Brendan Woody (Crofton, Md./South River) led the Green Terror (4-10) with a 3-2 win at heavyweight.

Matt Pangle led the 15th-ranked Falcons (16-5) with a 1-minute, 52-second pin at 157.

Sean Reddington opened the night with an 11-4 win at 125 before Nick Malinowski (Baltimore, Md./Boys' Latin School of Maryland) earned a forfeit win at 133.

Nick Nunez won 4-2 for Messiah at 141 to even the match at 6-all before a Stephen Maloney 16-1 technical fall at 149 and the Pangle pin gave the visitors a 17-6 lead.

Jeff Hojnacki added a 6-minute, 21-second fall before a Ben Swarr technical fall and Derek Beitz major decision sealed the win. Victor Defrance won 8-7 at 197.

McDaniel returns to action at the NCAA Div. III Southeast Regional on Feb. 23-24.
