LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four members of the McDaniel softball team have been named as a All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the 2014 season, announced recently.
Sidney led the team with a .379 batting average and 58 base hits. She also scored a team-best 37 runs and led the team with 13 doubles and six triples. She also stole 24 bases
Maring started all 46 games, finishing with a .371 batting average. She also rapped out 53 hits, including 10 doubles. She also drove in a team-best 34 runs.
Rising senior Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) was also named to the team. Brehm led the team in the circle, pitching in 41 games with 39 starts. She struck out a program-record 396 batters against just 89 walks.
Rising junior Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) also made the list. Galati hit .233 in 36 games. She had 20 hits and went 9-for-10 in stolen-base attempts.
To qualify for the NFCA scholar-athlete team, a player must achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale.
The Green Terror finished the season at 29-17 (11-5 Centennial Conference).
