Sneeringer records three hits in split

CARLISLE, Pa. – McDaniel rapped out 16 hits in the opener to take a 13-4 victory before Dickinson countered with a 13-hit game two to earn the split 7-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Thursday.

Emily Sneeringer (Hanover, Pa./South Western) led the Green Terror (9-7, 1-1 CC) with three hits and two RBIs in game one.

Casey Ditzer paced the Red Devils (6-10, 2-2 CC) with three hits and three runs scored.

Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) led off the opener with a single to center before taking second on a groundout.

An error allowed Sidney to score for a 1-0 lead before Stephanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) scored from second on a Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) double for a 2-0 lead.

Katie Swade walked to lead off the bottom of the first before taking second on a sacrifice and third on a wild pitch. She scored on a rundown play between first and second to cut the deficit in half.

An Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) single and back-to-back walks to Maring and Liebowitz loaded the bases.

A Sam Stitely (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) sacrifice fly scored Galati before a Sneeringer two-out, two-run single down the line pushed the lead to 5-1.

Sidney reached on an error to lead off the fourth inning before a Galati infield single and Maring walk loaded the bases.

Liebowitz was hit by a pitch to force in Sidney before a Stitely sacrifice fly plated Galati for a 7-1 lead.

A Grace Edelson RBI single and two-out error closed the deficit to 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

Maring walked to lead off the sixth before taking second on a groundout and scoring on a Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Va./Fauquier) single.

Singles from Swade and Ditzler closed the deficit back to four in the bottom of the frame.

Back-to-back doubles from Liebowitz and Stitely as part of a seven-hit inning keyed a five-run seventh that sealed the victory.

In the nightcap, Stacie Maring roped a one-out double in the bottom of the first before Ditzer singlesd to put runners at the corners.

After Ditzer stole second, the Red Devils pulled off a double steal for a 1-0 lead.

Lauren Stricker (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) led off the second inning with a walk before taking second on a wild pitch.

Sneeringer was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second before a fly ball out moved Stricker to third.

Stacey Armacost (Glenville, Pa./South Western) followed with a double to tie the game before Sidney and Galati drew back-to-back walks to force in Sneeringer for a 2-1 lead.

A pair of errors in the bottom of the third coupled with an Edelson RBI double gave Dickinson a 4-2 lead.

Back-to-back RBI doubles from Micki Crouch and Michelle Orden pushed the advantage to 6-2 in the fith before a two-out error allowed Ditzler to score in the sixth for the final margin.

McDaniel returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
