Scott Moyer, Director of Golf and men’s coach, has led the Green Terror to eight NCAA National Championship appearances with the most recent appearance in 2013 and has won several conference championships, including the 2005, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2013 titles.
Under Moyer, the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2013, McDaniel was ranked 19th in the final Golf World/Nike Golf Division III coaches’ poll – its highest final ranking following the 2011 season.
Moyer has won 18 conference team championships and coached 17 individual conference champions on two levels in addition to holding two NCAA coaching records. In 2005, both the men’s and women’s teams won the Centennial Conference team championship as well as both individual titles, making it the first institution in NCAA history to accomplish this feat.
In addition, McDaniel is believed to be the first team to have four different players win the individual conference championship in four consecutive years (2005-08).
Moyer has worked with coaches and players from around the United States as well as South Africa, Germany, Spain, Canada, and Korea, Japan France, Sweden and Australia. His players and students have competed at every level of golf competition, including the PGA Tour, Futures Tour, U.S. Open, British Amateur, U.S. Amateur, Porter Cup and the NCAA national championship Several of his former players have gone on to be successful college colleges at the D1, D2 and D3 levels.
Moyer is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America and speaks at numerous recruiting workshops, including those in Pinehurst, N.C., and for the Mid-Atlantic PGA. He also serves as the Director of the National Golf Coaches Academy and directs numerous NIKE golf camps nationwide.
