Four named to Academic Squad

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Four members of the McDaniel College field hockey team have been named to the 2017 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad, released on Thursday.

Junior Paige West (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) joined sophomore Meghan Sadler (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) on the list.

Freshmen Paige Ford (Edgewood, Md./South River) and Ashley Morrison (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) also made the necessary grade after their first semester on campus.

To be a member of the squad, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 through the fall semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

West, a defender, started all 17 games and made one defensive save.

Sadler, a midfielder, started all 17 games and contributed one shot.

Ford, a goalkeeper, started 14 of her 15 appearances in goal. She posted a .754 save percentage and 3.43 goals-against average.

Morrison, a defender, made 10 starts among her 16 appearances.

Sadler was also selected to the Centennial Conference (CC) Academic Honor Roll after the fall season.

No fewer than 148 CC student-athletes made the list this year.

The Green Terror finished the season 2-15 overall (1-9 CC).
