Conference fall academic honors announced

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference (CC) recently announced its academic honors for the fall sports season and 47 Green Terror athletes were named to the CC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Women's soccer sophomore Hannah Schepers (Port Deposit, Md./St. Mark's) and senior Jackie Fahrenholz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) joined volleyball juniors Gayle Edelstein (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) and Marlowe Embry (San Jose, Calif./J.H. Pitman) and sophomore Anna Jezerski (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) in being named to the Academic All-Centennial team. Embry earned first-team honors while Schepers and Edelstein were second-team honorees. Fahrenholz and Jezerski were tabbed honorable mention. The Academic All-Centennial team recognizes student-athletes who receive both all-conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.

The quintet was part of the 47 named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40. The honored Green Terror student-athletes are:

Men's Cross Country

Junior Stephen Porembski (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College), sophomore Zachary Stango (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch), senior Shaun Thompson (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg) and senior Caleb White (Glen Burnie, Md./Baltimore City College).

Women's Cross Country

Junior Bailey Chapman (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill), sophomore Megan Mesick (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor), junior Mackenzie Meyer (San Jose, Calif./Pioneer), junior Julia Murphy (Westminster, Md./Winters Mills), senior Jill Shephard (Monkton, Md./North Harford) and senior Vanessa Velez (Cali, Columbia/Gimnasio la colina).

Field Hockey

Senior Emily Farrell (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) and senior Meghan Sadler (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area).

Football

Sophomore Kekuta Bah (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton), sophomore John Allan Furgeson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus), junior Mason Grim (Millersille, Md./Old Mill), sophomore Azagio Herd (Waldorf, Md./North Point), junior Aaron Pray III (Germantown, Md./Maret School) and senior Kyle Wyant (LaPlata, Md./LaPlata).

In all, 676student-athletes from the CC's 11 member institutions were named to the 2019 Fall Academic Honor Roll and 79 were tabbed Academic All-Centennial.
