Conference winter academic honors announced

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference (CC) recently announced its academic honors for the winter sports season and 13 Green Terror athletes were named to the CC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

Women's basketball senior Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and men's indoor track and field sophomore Caleb White (Glen Burnie, Md./Baltimore City College) were named to the Academic All-Centennial team. Smith earned honorable mention all-conference honors while White was a second-team all-conference selection. The Academic All-Centennial team recognizes student-athletes who receive both all-conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.

The duo was part of the 13 named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40. The honored Green Terror student-athletes are:

Men's Basketball

Junior Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon).

Women's Basketball

Senior Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute).

Men's Indoor Track and Field

Junior Gavin Gibson (Newark, Del./Sanford), sophomore Patrick Smith (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson), senior Nevin Stambaugh (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), sophomore Caleb White (Glen Burnie, Md./Baltimore City College).

Women's Indoor Track and Field

Senior Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill).

Men's Swimming

Junior Michael Brant (Wilmington, Del./Cab Calloway School of the Arts), junior Paul Van Nevel (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville).

Women's Swimming

Senior Maddie Gamble (Colora, Md./Rising Sun), senior Emma Perdue (Grasonville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian), senior Samantha Smith (Bangkok, Turkey/International School of Bangkok), senior Becca Sykes (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton).

In all, 439 student-athletes from the CC's 11 member institutions were named to the 2018 Winter Academic Honor Roll and 80 were tabbed Academic All-Centennial.
