HAVERFORD, Pa. – McDaniel dropped a tightly contested Centennial Conference (CC) match at Haverford before defeating Baruch to split a volleyball tri-match on Saturday.

The Green Terror (12-13, 3-5 CC) dropped a 3-1 decision to the Fords (14-11, 5-3 CC), including falling 27-25 in the fourth set, before topping the Bearcats (10-20) by a 3-0 score.

Lexi Corral (Tucson, Ariz./Gaithersburg [Md.]) led McDaniel with 28 kills on the day, recording 15 against Haverford and 13 against Baruch.

The Fords won the opening set 25-16 before taking a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 victory. The Green Terror forced a third set with a 25-23 victory before the hosts remained in playoff position with the 27-25 fourth-set win.

Tied at 8-all in the opening set, Haverford scored 12 of the next 17 points to open up a 20-13 advantage.

Trailing 17-10 in the third set, Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) served eight straight points to give McDaniel an 18-17 edge.

A pair of kills from Patricia Davie (Key Largo, Fla./Williamstown Christian Academy) accounted for two of the final three points of the 25-23 win.

The fourth set featured 14 ties and five lead changes. A Natalie Pisch kill made it match-point before she was in on a block to wrap up the victory.

Davie finished with 13 kills while Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) added 12. Bauman steadied the defense with 26 digs.

After five ties and four lead changes to start the second match, three Jasmine Soriano (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) aces keyed a 16-4 finish to the set.

Three straight kills from Davie and back-to-back Lugar knockdowns helped McDaniel take control of the second set 16-10 en route to the eight-point victory.

Three early kills from Corral in the final set helped the Green Terror open up an 11-5 lead.

The senior then added back-to-back kills and Soriano recorded her fifth ace of the match to cap the 25-18 win.

Davie added 10 kills in the match. Soriano chipped in six kills and nine digs to her five aces.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Johns Hopkins on Tuesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
