Trailing 18-10 in the first set, McDaniel rallied to eventually take a 22-21 lead on a Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor High) ace.

A service error gave the Green Terror a 24-23 advantage before a Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) kill put away the set.

McDaniel staved off a Johns Hopkins rally in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-22 victory.
