Corral records seven blocks in McDaniel victory

YORK, Pa. – McDaniel closed out a 3-1 non-conference volleyball victory at York (Pa.) with the most lopsided set of the match, guaranteeing the squad will finish the regular season with a winning record on Thursday.

The Green Terror (13-5), who has not had a winning season since 2009, took the first set 25-20 before the Spartans (14-10) evened the match with a 26-24 victory. McDaniel closed out its 13th victory of the season, 25-20 and 25-17.

Lexi Corral (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) recorded seven blocks in the match – the highest total by a Green Terror player since 208. She added four kills and four digs, hitting .333 along the way.

Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) led the attack with 11 kills while Caroline Savin (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added eight.

Katie Huston, Alison Dorsey and Ijeoma Igwe led York with eight kills each. Katherine Graziano led the defense with 19 digs while Brittany Hicks had 12.

Colette Kellen (Derwood, Md./Covenant Life) added 19 assists, four kills and two aces for McDaniel while Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) chipped in 16 assists.

Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) led four players with double-digit digs, recording 19. Kellen added 12 while Martin had 11. Alyssa Gilboy (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) added 10.

Savin also had five blocks while Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor High) had four. Martin and Emme Petti (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) had three each.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Swarthmore and Trinity (D.C.) on Saturday. The first match starts at 1 p.m.
