McShea leads attack with six kills
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Susquehanna jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first set en route to a 3-0 non-conference volleyball victory over McDaniel on Wednesday.
Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the attack for the Green Terror (0-20) with six kills. Brooke Sillaman (Crofton, Md./Arundel) added five assists and six digs.
Kaylee Morgan led the Crusaders (10-13) with nine kills and a .750 hitting percentage. Julia Caruso chipped in 10 assists while Kate Reese had seven digs and six aces.
A pair of Dana Kreutzer service aces keyed the match-opening 10-2 run that sparked a 25-8 Susquehanna win in the first set.
In the second set, back-to-back aces from Reese – part of 13 for the Crusaders in the match – were part of a 9-2 start en route to a 25-12 victory.
In the third set, Sillaman recorded an ace and kill as part of a 3-1 lead for McDaniel before Reese served 15 straight points to make it a 16-3 lead en route to a 25-8 cap to the match.
The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
