Weldon leads defense with six digs
LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall recorded 16 aces and nine total blocks to key a 3-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Wednesday.
Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) led the Green Terror (0-10, 0-2 CC) with six digs and two kills.
Julie Harvey and Elise Gilchrist each recorded four aces for the Diplomats (3-7, 1-0 CC), who registered the sweep with wins of 25-7, 25-12 and 25-16.
Gilchrist added three block assists while Heather Letzkus and Ellana Benabou had four total blocks each. Harvey led the offense with five kills.
Annie McShea (Frederick,Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added seven assists and two aces for McDaniel while Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) chipped in a team-best three kills to go with two digs.
Lauren Lewis (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) added three digs and two kills while Sarah Marshall (Lexington, Mass./Gann Academy) had two kills and an ace. Jaina Maultsby (Baltimore, Md./Western) contributed an assist and dig.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
