Sillaman keys solid defense
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Stevenson jumped out to early leads in all three sets, downing McDaniel 3-0 in non-conference volleyball action on Monday.
Brooke Sillaman (Crofton, Md./Arundel) keyed the Green Terror (0-9) on defense with a match high-tying six digs. Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and Jaina Maultsby (Baltimore, Md./Western) led the attack with four kills apiece.
Christine Shetterly led the attack for the Mustangs (12-1) with 10 kills on just 12 attempts without an error to hit .833 – part of a .324 hitting night for the visitors. Samantha Perillo led the defense with six digs.
Stevenson jumped out to 7-2 lead in the first set en route to a 25-9 victory.
Emilee Ceroy served the visitors to a 6-0 lead in the second set behind three of Alexa Carney's four kills.
One of Annie McShea's (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) three kills drew McDaniel within 20-11 before two of Stacey Rex's three aces keyed a 4-0 finish for the 25-11 win.
Two errors helped Stevenson to a 2-0 lead in the third set before back-to-back kills by Krobock evened the set at 4-all. An attack error put the Green Terror on top, 5-4.
A Lauren Lewis (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) kill drew the set even for the third time at 6-all before three straight Isenberg kills keyed a 7-0 run for the Mustangs to open up a 13-6 advantage en route to a 25-16 victory.
McShea and Sarah Marshall (Lexington, Mass./Gann Academy) added four assists apiece to the Green Terror offense.
McDaniel returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
