Diplomats remain perfect in CC play with 3-0 win at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Kerry Rom recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 3-0 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Wednesday.

The Diplomats (10-2, 3-0 CC) registered 15 service aces en route to their ninth sweep of the season.

Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne, Pa/Cedar Cliff) paced the Green Terror (7-5, 1-1 CC) with eight digs, six kills and all three of the squad's service aces. Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) led the attack with 10 kills to go with nine digs while Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added six kills and eight digs.

Franklin & Marshall built an 18-13 lead in the first set before Reisinger served the Green Terror back into the set.

After a Reisinger kill, she notched two of her three aces to draw her team even and a Diplomat attack error gave the hosts a 19-18 lead but the visitors notched seven of the final nine points to take the opening set, 25-21.

The second set was nearly a carbon copy with Franklin & Marshall building a 17-13 lead before a Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) kill, a Reisinger ace and two Diplomat errors knotted the set at 17.

Keyed by four McDaniel errors, Franklin & Marshal reeled off the final eight points of the match out of a timeout to win, 25-17.

Even at 7-all in the third set, kills from Sydney Seydel and Kerry Rom around a Katy May ace gave the Diplomats a 13-10 lead that they never relinquished en route to a 25-18 victory.

Nuckles recorded 16 assists for the Green Terror while Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) matched Herrgott for team-high honors on the defensive side with nine digs.

Pam Horner and Candice Tussing notched five aces apiece for Franklin & Marshall. Horner added 22 assists and 10 digs.
