Herrgott notches 18 kills to lead Green Terror on first day of tourney
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) recorded 18 kills to lead McDaniel to a 2-0 opening day at the 2009 Panther Invitational hosted by SUNY Old Westbury in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (3-3) opened the day with a sweep of Centenary, winning 25-22, 25-12, 25-15 before taking down Farmingdale State in three sets, 25-13, 25-15, 25-16.
Against Centenary (3-4), Herrgott recorded nine kills while Lanni Reisigner (Lemoyne, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) had six apiece. Hanlon added three total blocks.
Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) added 11 assists and led the defense with eight digs.
Against Farmingdale (0-6), Herrgott matched her first match performance with nine kills but also added four total blocks. Hanlon had six kills while Reisinger notched five.
Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Nuckles had 10 digs apiece.
The Green Terror returns to action on the second day of the Panther Invitational on Sunday.
