With the 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 win, the Green Terror (12-15, 5-4 CC) kept its playoff hopes alive. Entering its match at Haverford on Saturday, McDaniel needs a win and losses by Dickinson (at Washington) and Muhlenberg (at Gettysburg) to earn a spot in the five-team field. The Blue Jays (19-6, 7-2 CC), by virtues of wins by Gettysburg on Haverford, dropped out of the tie for first place and were virtually eliminated from contention for the top seed.
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder), who had led the Green Terror in kills in each of the team’s first 26 matches, joined Filipone in double figures with 10. Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson), who had eight kills, and Herrgott each had three total blocks.
Kristin Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) and Kristie Fourcade (Ijamsville, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) contributed to the offense with 15 assists apiece.
Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) led the way defensively with 17 digs. Filipone rounded out a double-double with 11 digs while Nuckles had 10.
Amanda Lewis led the Johns Hopkins attack with 10 kills and 15 assists while Rhea Alexander steadied the defense with 20 digs.
