McDaniel splits pair of matches on final day at Battlefield Classic

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) recorded 23 kills and nine total blocks to lead McDaniel to a 1-1 showing in the final round of pool play at the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.

            The Green Terror (4-3) won for the third time in four five-set matches, downing Eastern Mennonite 3-2 (21-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10) before falling to Gallaudet 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 16-25, 25-23).
            Against the Royals, Herrgott notched 14 kills and added five total blocks while Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added 11 and seven kills, respectively.
            Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) added 46 assists and two aces to the attack while Kristie Fourcade (Ijamsville, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) steadied the defense with 22 digs to go with three aces.
            Against the Bison, Herrgott and Hanlon combined for 16 kills and each had four total blocks. Nuckles added 17 assists, 10 digs and three aces.
            McDaniel returns to action in the home opener against Goucher on Tuesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
