Lighter finishes seventh in 5K

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sarah Lighter (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) finished seventh in the 5,000 to lead McDaniel at the Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg in women's outdoor track and field action on Saturday.

Scoring:

  • The Green Terror finished eighth with three points. Gettysburg won the nine-team invitational with 236.5 points.

Making a Point: The following athletes earned points at the championship:

  • Sarah Lighter: 5000, finishing seventh with a time of 23:10.52.
  • Elise Wiesnegger (Georgetown, Md./Sanford [Del.]): javelin, finishing eighth with a mark of 21.71 meters.

Standard Bearer: The following athletes hit Centennial Conference-qualifying marks at the meet:

  • Kelly Gibson (Yardley, Pa./Pennington Prep [N.J.]): high jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 1:42 meters.
  • Elise Wiesnegger: discus, finishing 13th with a mark of 25.41 meters.

Top 10 Worthy: The following athletes achieved a mark that ranks in the program's all-time top 10:

  • Libby Dougherty (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) now ranks 10th in the hammer with a mark of 25.27 meters, finishing 10th.
