YORK, Pa. – Alva Ecker (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) highlighted a trio of McDaniel runners at the York (Pa.) Twilight Meet on Thursday, setting a new pole vault record in women's outdoor track and field action.

Ecker cleared 3.11 meters to finish sixth in the event. By clearing the bar at 10-2 ½, she bettered the previous record by two inches.

Ecker also reached a new personal best in the triple jump, finishing third with a distance of 10.42 to improve her fifth-place standing on the program's all-time list.

Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) and Laura Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington Prep) won their respective races to round out the competitors.

Shinn took the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:51.21 to win by more than nine seconds.

One race later, Kaler won the 1,500 with a personal-best time of 5:03.63, 32 seconds ahead of second place.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet hosted by Widener on Monday.
