Ecker wins twice

TOWSON, Md. – Alva Ecker (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) won both the long and triple jump to lead McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at the Goucher Invitational in women's track and field action on Saturday.

The Green Terror amassed 95 points behind 10 top-three finishes, including a trio of victories.

Ecker won the long jump with a leap of 4.72 meters and the triple jump with a jump of 10.17 meters. She was also third in the pole vault, clearing 2.60 meters to move into sixth place on the program's all-time list. All three marks were Centennial Conference (CC) qualifiers.

Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) rounded out the trio of winners, crossing first in the 3,000 with a time of 11:18.02 – a time that was 49.70 seconds faster than second place. Kaler was also fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 5:13.52.

Laura Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington) added a pair of third-place showings. She crossed third in the steeplechase with a CC-qualifying time of 13:11.81. She was also third in the 3,000 with a time of 12:18.97.

Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) also crossed third in two events. She was third in the 800 with a conference-qualifying time of 2:31.12 and also posted a third-place showing in the 1,500 with a time of 5:09.08.

Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.18 seconds. She was second in the prelims, winning her heat in a time of 17.13 to qualify for the finals. She was also fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:11.33). Both are CC-qualifying times.

Emily Gross (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) rounded out conference qualifiers, crossing eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:36.04.

Gross, Lawson and Allen-Gorman joined Taylor Stillings (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) to run a time of 4:25.46 in the 4x400 relay and finish second.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday.
