Fatzinger finishes fifth in vault
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Danielle Fatzinger (North Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) finished fifth in the pole vault to lead McDaniel at the 2014 Centennial Conference women's indoor track and field championship hosted by Haverford on Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror finished ninth with five points. Johns Hopkins ran away with the team title, scoring 243.33 points. Swarthmore finished second with 81 points.
Fatzinger turned in a personal-best jump of 2.60 meters to move into a tie for fourth place on the program's all-time list. She was also 19th in the shot put with a throw of 8.07 meters.
Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) added the other McDaniel point on the day, finishing eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:27.59.
Allen-Gorman joined Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville), Lucy Benson (Wilmington, Del./Sanford) and Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) to add a pair of ninth-place finishes in two relays.
The distance medley relay turned in a time of 13:19.01 to record the fourth-best time in program history while the 4x800-meter relay posted a time of 10:39.33.
Lawson rounded out the competitors, finishing 10th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.73 seconds.
McDaniel opens the outdoor season at the Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington on Mar. 21-22.
